The mechanical press is a widely used equipment in modern industrial production, which is extensively applied in processes such as stamping, forging, and stretching. Its working performance directly affects product quality and production efficiency. In actual operation, according to different processing requirements, it is often necessary to adjust the stroke of the press. Proper and reasonable adjustment of the stroke can not only improve processing accuracy but also extend the service life of the equipment and enhance safety.

One, Basic concept of braking stroke in mechanical presses

The 'stroke' of mechanical presses refers to the distance from the upper limit position to the lower limit position of the slider. Adjusting the stroke actually means adjusting the vertical distance moved by the slider in one working cycle. Different processing tasks have different requirements for strokes, for example, shallow stretching or blanking processes require shorter strokes, while deep stretching processes require longer strokes.

Two, Common mechanical press structure and stroke adjustment methods

Mechanical presses are mainly composed of the main body, slider, clutch, brake, transmission system, and adjustment mechanism. The commonly used methods of stroke adjustment are as follows:

1. Adjusting the length of the connecting rod

Most mechanical presses use a crank and connecting rod mechanism to drive the slider to reciprocate. By adjusting the length of the connecting rod, the stroke of the slider can be changed. During adjustment, the handwheel or electric device is usually used to rotate the adjustment screw to change the total length of the connecting rod, thereby changing the lower die contact point of the slider.

2. Regulating the height of the slider

Some presses adjust the effective stroke by regulating the installation height of the slider. This adjustment method is often used in closed presses and is suitable for situations where molds need to be frequently changed.

  3. Replacing connecting rods or eccentric shafts of different lengthsHow to adjust the stroke of a mechanical press(图1)

In some special-purpose presses, to meet specific process requirements, the stroke can be adjusted significantly by replacing cranks or connecting rods with different eccentric distances or different lengths.

4. PLC or CNC system control (suitable for CNC presses)

In modern CNC presses, stroke adjustment can be realized through programming. The system automatically adjusts the position and stroke of the slider according to the input parameters, which has high adjustment accuracy and simple operation.

Three, Matters needing attention in stroke adjustment

1. Safety first: The power supply of the equipment should be turned off before adjusting the stroke, and it should be confirmed that the slider is in the upper dead point position to prevent personal injury or equipment damage due to misoperation.

2. Calibration and trial operation: After adjustment, an empty stroke trial operation should be carried out to check whether the slider runs smoothly and the stroke is accurate, to avoid damage to the mold or equipment due to improper adjustment.

3. Reasonable setting according to process requirements: The appropriate stroke distance should be selected according to the actual processing technology to avoid blindly increasing the stroke, which may affect the performance and processing efficiency of the equipment.

  4. Regular maintenance and inspection: After long-term operation, the connecting parts may loosen or wear, affecting the accuracy of stroke adjustment. Regular inspection and calibration should be carried out.How to adjust the stroke of a mechanical press(图2)

Four, Summary

The stroke adjustment of mechanical presses is a technically demanding operation, which directly affects the processing effect and service life of the equipment. Operators should be familiar with the equipment structure and adjustment principles, and strictly follow the operational procedures. With the development of automation technology, more and more presses have intelligent adjustment functions, which not only improves the adjustment efficiency but also enhances the stability and consistency of the processing process. Therefore, mastering the skills of stroke adjustment of mechanical presses is of great significance for improving production efficiency and product quality.
